Cataract

What is Cataract?

Cataract is a clouding of a natural lens of the human eye that can cause vision problems. In a normal eye, light passes through the lens and gets focused on the retina. To help produce a sharp image, the lens must remain clear. In its early stages, a cataract may not cause a vision problem and cloudiness may affect only a small part of the lens. Over time, the cataract may grow larger and cloud more of the lens, making it harder to see.

A commonly performed cataract surgery is the one performed using phacoemulsification technique. Through a tiny incision made in the eye, the surgeon inserts an instrument about the size of a pen with the vibratory needle on it that breaks up and gently removes the cloudy lens. This traditional phaco technique uses longitudinal ultrasound energy to emulsify the cloudy lens. This technique involves a significant amount of heat generated during the procedure, which could be harmful for patient’s eyes.

Aashirwad Eye Hospital is equipped with the latest Infiniti Vision System for cataract removal. This widely admired phaco machine world over, offers cataract removal modality of Ozil Technology. Ozil technology available with Infiniti Phacoemulsifying unit is the latest advancement in the field aiming at the safety and efficiency of the cataract procedure.

Surgeons now benefit from the reengineering of the entire cataract-removal process, and patients benefit from the potentially reduced risk of complications inherent in Conventional phaco.

Ozil – an edge over conventional Phaco!

Ozil technology employs torsional phaco working on the oscillatory movement of the needle cutting cataract, unlike traditional ultrasound that works on the to and fro movement of the needle. This, along with extraordinary fluidic management system of the Infiniti machine, helps achieving better outcomes post cataract surgery.

The Safety

Torsional phaco significantly reduces the consumption of Ultrasound energy in emulsifying cataracts of optimum density and dense hard cataracts, thus offering the highest level of safety of the patient’s eye.Researches have shown that the procedure performed with the ‘Torsional’ puts less energy into the eye than conventional ultrasound.

Infiniti System

Unmatched Efficiency

The new Infiniti Vision System is the world’s first tri-modal cataract removal surgical instrument. With this single instrument, surgeons now can offer different treatment options for different patients. Infiniti Vision System functions on the “Fluid Management System”; FMS is a cassette type mechanism which offers benefits like making the system operate faster, less trauma to the patient during surgery, avoids cross contamination from one patient to another, faster visual rehabilitation, etc.

Predictable Patient Outcomes

With Infiniti™ technology, phaco emulsification surgery is made very, very safe and predictable for better patient outcomes. Infiniti™ Vision System imparts greater control to the surgeon while performing cataract surgery in routine as well as challenging cases which in turn results in better surgical outcomes for the patients..

Best of Intra Ocular Lenses

Intra Ocular Lenses (IOL) are the lenses to be implanted in place of natural crystalline lens after cataract removal. Lens technology has evolved to offer patient variety of choice to suit the personal needs. Aashirwadd Eye Hospital offers latest IOL options to help patient restore their normal vision and gift their lifestyle back! IOLs are basically of two types : Non foldable and Foldable. Today foldable lenses are becoming more and more popular because of the smaller incision required.
